Using Emma automation for Salesforce workflow

Before installing Emma for Salesforce, want to know if we can replace our automated Salesforce emails with those created in Emma. Does the integration sync workflows, or is it simply a way to track customer/email interaction in SF?

The functionality of Emma for Salesforce is designed to mirror updates made in either Salesforce or Emma to a synced lead or contact on a mapped field in the other platform, taking away the need to bounce back and forth between both systems to make an update. Beyond keeping accurate data in both places, the integration also allows you to create audience groups in Salesforce, populate audience groups in Salesforce using reports, add individual leads/contacts to particular Emma Groups within Salesforce and view the Emma Mailing response data within Salesforce both in a summary format as well as broken down on individual lead/contact records. While the Emma for Salesforce integration doesn't do anything to sync workflows you may have created within Salesforce over to your Emma account, very soon you will be able to use the features of the integration to trigger automation workflows that you've set up within Emma. We are close to making live a Connected App version of Emma for Salesforce which completely reworks the API communication used by the integration and provides new features to all users of the integration. (To stay in the know on the most up-to-date progress towards making the Connected App available for all users, please follow this Emma Community thread.) Once the Connected App version of Emma for Salesforce is live, you'll be able to make use of the various automation triggers Emma offers, like field change and welcome automation, if you pass over data through the integration that triggers the criteria you've set up on an automation workflow within Emma.

Finally got around to setting up Emma for Salesforce. Looks like things went smoothly. However, our organization uses Lead records much differently than we use Contact records. Is there a way to sync with Emma so that Emma members who are new to SF are created as Contacts, rather than leads?

Hi there!

There's not a way through the integration itself to have Emma members who are new to Salesforce created as contacts rather than leads. I have heard from a handful of customers though who have done customizations on their end to put a custom flow in place that automatically converts new leads created through the integration to contacts. That custom work isn't something that we support on the Emma end, but it's definitely possible and may be a good solution to investigate within your Salesforce org!

Do you know if any of your customers are willing to share how they created their custom flow? Having difficulty figuring this one out on our own.

I don't have the nitty gritty on how those users did it and have no idea if they're willing to share, but I'm sure happy to shoot a few emails off those those folks to check on it! I'll reach out by email to the customers who have reported they've done this on their end and include a link to this Emma Community post so they can share any information they're willing to here, directly with you and anyone else following along.
