I have tried to send out a campaign with a vimeo video embedded in the video portion of the campaign. I get an error that a thumbnail could not be generated. I've checked the Vimeo link. I've put up a picture and tried to embed the link in the button to click to watch video and nothing works. What should I do?  I use firefox.

Hi there Francesca,

Thanks for reaching out!

I'm wondering if what you are running in to is the same issue that Andrew described here:
https://community.myemma.com/emma/topics/vimeo-link-wont-embed-video

Check that out and see if that's what's causing your thumbnail to not come through.  Let me know if that's not the issue and we'll look a little deeper!

Thank you.  it is the same issue.  I read this post but it did not help.  I actually used an embed code generated by vimeo not the share link Andrew used so it should have worked.   I have yet to get a real solution.

Hey there, sorry that still hasn't worked out yet!

I take it you checked your settings there in Vimeo as well to make sure the share settings aren't restricting Emma from grabbing the thumbnail?

Likely the issue is on the Vimeo side of things, as we don't have any control over the information that they provide us.  The video box simply reaches out to Vimeo to provide the thumbnail.

That being said, I'm happy to take a look as well if you can provide me with the link to the Vimeo video.

If I could also get the username for your Emma account so I can take a look there too.

Cheers!

This link https://vimeo.com/207643246/c2f7fa6949 is a private link on vimeo.   I have the My Emma website listed in vimeo to places I can embed this link.  I did manage to get a link up on the campaign but it only shows the link name and no picture or thumbnail.   How can I get the thumbnail

As it's a private video on Vimeo, I'm not able to see the Share links or any info associated with it.  Here are the options:

1. You'd need to check with Vimeo regarding what settings would need to be changed in order to have them send a thumbnail to us for the video block.

2. If your privacy settings don't allow for them to send over a thumbnail, you could grab your own still from your video and perhaps put a "Play" button on top of it, then just use the image block using that image and link out to the video.

3. Just so I'm clear, when you say "embed", you mean that you're using our video block to LINK out to your video, right?  I just wanted to make sure that you're not trying to use an HTML block to embed the ACTUAL video into the mailing.  We don't allow fully embedding video into emails as that would be a huge red flag for spam-blockers.  Linking out to videos is how it's done.

I'm happy to take a look at your mailing if you could send me your Emma username, but like I said, it's likely a Vimeo permissions issue and I doubt there's much we could do for it unless you wanted to change the settings.  And if you don't, then using the image block and linking out to it that way would be the way to go.

You are right, when I originally tried to upload the video, i was using the Vimeo embed code not the URL.  At some point, I figured out that it was asking for the URL code and not the embed code. I ended up using a screenshot of the video with the Vimeo URL code and a button at the bottom of the campaign to click to watch the video. Thank you.
