What is the best way to get subscribers of one group to subscribe to another group?

I would like to send an email to subscribers in a group (say, Group A) letting them know of a program and asking them if they would like to receive emails for that program (Group B). I would like them to opt in instead of just simply adding these contacts manually to Group B.

What is the best way to do this in an Emma email? I don't want them to fill out a signup form as I already have most of their information. Ideally I would like to place a button in which if they click on it, then they are automatically added to Group B.

Can you suggest the most effective way?

Hello!

In order for your contacts to have the option of joining this new group, the strategy will be a little more in depth than a one click button, but it is not too far off from that!

The best way to achieve what you are describing will be to encourage your subscribers to manage their own preferences, and create a campaign that has a clear call to action to do so in it.

This will indirectly involve the use of a signup form, but a personalization tag can be used behind a button so that some of your subscriber’s data will be populated already when they reach the page. As long as the group is listed and displayed on the signup form, it will appear on the manage preferences form for selection as well.

You might find that the most straightforward experience will be to create a simple signup form that only displays the Email field, and all groups you’d like to be available for selection.

The article below from our resource center actually addresses the strategy I’d recommend, and it cites the [% manage_url %] personalization tag that will be needed to generate a customized form for each recipient.

It also points out that the specific signup form that you’ve customized will need to be selected for the mailing before sending. This option is available at the “Review & Send” window, as well as the “Send Test” pane.

Thank you, Greg. I was not able to find the info on how to use the [% manage_url %] tag behind a button so that the fields will pre-fill. Do I just input that in a row above the button similar to doing a personalized content block?

Hey there!   To use that personalization tag behind a button, you simply paste it in the URL box for the button.  (would also work for images)
