Why would a known valid email suddenly be bounced and added to Error status?

We just noticed that many emails that are from an older email service - @nc.rr.com - are now showing as an error. We know these emails are valid.

Hello!

Because bounces can be caused from a wide array of potential issues, it's hard to say with certainly what could have caused this email, specifically, to bounce.

We've seen intermittent issues with RoadRunner (.rr) being able to successfully receive emails which could be part of the issue here.

As a reminder you can always move a contact from error back to active to try them again if you think the original issue has since been resolved.

For some best practices around delivery we have the following resource center article:

https://support.e2ma.net/Resource_Center/Help_articles/5_steps_to_emails_that_reach_the_inbox

Additionally feel free to reach out to us at support@myemma.com or 1 888-493-2525 if you see any higher than normal bounce rates for a particular send. Anymore than 4% bounces can typically be defined into a single problem.

I hope this helps provide some direction here.

Thanks!

Zach

Thanks Zach, we will test and move them back to active. Yes, I think most all of the error ones were from RoadRunner accounts.

That just happened to us, but from a variety of accounts. What gives?

I would point to the same answer Zach gave above.  While you may be seeing it in a variety of accounts instead of just the roadrunner ones, it's always good to make sure you're in line with those best practices that he posted.
